Showing 354 UK Folk Music Clubs with verifiable web pages
Hooray, the Map is back in business.
At the moment it just shows those Folk Clubs in the UK for which I have up to date verified information. I’ve asked other clubs to update their information and called out for new entries
You an add a club by following the menu link. You CANNOT update an existing entry directly, just put in a complete new one and I’ll do the rest.

I’ll be restarting the international and festival layers soon I hope, once I have the UK stuff all up to date.

Using the Map
Click on that little ‘slide in’ menu symbol at top left on the map
Slide in
to turn on/off the different layers (only one layer at present)
Zoom in with your mouse scroll wheel or use the + and – buttons at bottom left of the map window. Zooming focuses on the location of the mouse pointer so position it first You can drag the map by holding down your (left) mouse button.  If you are using a phone zoom and drag are two-finger actions (ask a friend if you don’t know what that means 🙂

    Tip.. but maybe only on certain set-ups (I’m using chrome and there is a section called ‘Drive’) …

    Clicking the full screen logo in the top right corner of the map(the four rightangles) adds the feature of a search box which then lists ten items matching the search plus other things on the google map.( https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=zFcKphOvGxXU.kaygq-TxL-oI )
    So, for example, ‘cheshire’ gives ten clubs or clicking on ‘cheshire’ in the lower section zooms to the map centred round Northwich.

      Thanks Freddy, Yes the normal map view on the website is fine for having a look around for events, but the full window view gives access to all the Google Maps tools, especially useful if you are familiar with Google Maps.

      Update for clubs in Mid Devon. Pennymoor Singaround meets 3rd Wednesday, Music club meets last Sunday both at The Cruwys Arms, Pennymoor. Lunch club first thursday 12 00 noon at London Inn Morchard Bishop. Coleford Club meets Last tuesday at The New inn Coleford.Sticklepath club meets at The Devonshire Inn Sticklepath on the first Sunday. Sandford club meets on the first Tuesday at The Lamb Inn Sandford. Pennymoor Singaround has a Web page and a page on Facebook.     Hi, just wondering if there’s any way of keeping a regular event on the map, rather than having to relist it? Our Grange-over-Sands folk club is no longer on there so I’ve just had to resubmit…

      Thanks Mandy, I have just checked and your original entry is still there. I don’t remove entries without a specific reason – eg evidence that the event no longer exists, or that it is not relevant to the map, or no response if I request an update.

      You might want to look again, checking that you have the club layer turned on (there’s a club layer and a festival layer). If you are viewing the map on the map website, in the map window, there should be a little box to the left of the title “Folk Music Map”.Like a box with an arrow pointing in from the left to indicate that a menu will appear. Click on that and you’ll see the list of layers and you choose which one/s you want to view.

      So I’ll ignore your update unless you let me know that it contains new information.

    I and my husband organise The Lake District Folk & Acoustic Club in Staveley, LA8 9LR It is monthly and runs on the second Friday each month, alternating singers nights with guest performers. It takes place in Hawkshead Brewery, Staveley Mill Yard. It has a Facebook page but no website.
    There is no club in August to leave space for the Lake District Folk Weekend which we also organise. The web address for the folk weekend is given below. There is also a Facebook page.

    I have had to amend our earlier submission to your map as the Facebook Group link did not display correctly…

    The “update entry” on the submission page cannot be selected so I had to choose “new entry”
